We start by hiring the best team by carefully interviewing and screening applicants. We want to find candidates who share our values and commitment to serve. We’re skillful at interviewing and use techniques that have been proven to give us a real sense of the people who want to join ARBOR.
We make an investment in our staff. After hiring, we provide them with the training, mentoring, and support they need to be their best. Our management team freely shares their own experiences to help staff avoid burnout, resolve issues or just provide words of encouragement in a stressful situation. We look for opportunities to help our staff gain additional training to enhance their skills or career.
We monitor the quality of our staff through formal assessments as well as frequent, informal check-ins. We ensure that our staff is getting to their assignments on time, dressed appropriately, and that they follow the right protocols. Most important, we are proud to acknowledge staff that "go above and beyond" for the individiduals, families and/or agencies they work for.
Our staff cares deeply about their work and the people they serve. Our staff share a common desire to make a difference yet know how to maintain their focus in difficult situations. For example, an ARBOR staffer was called upon to provide skilled oversight for a suicidal five-year-old child. It was hard for our employee not to feel distraught about what caused this young child to be so desperate. Yet, the our staff adeptly engaged this child in productive activities and monitored their mood to keep the child safe and stable.
